Does PCHC provide direct health care?
PCHC does not provide direct health care services. Access to experienced community-based professionals is facilitated.
Does PCHC have physicians and nurses on staff?
PCHC has a staff that includes nurses experienced in serving individuals with mental retardation. PCHC also employs a psychiatrist, a speech-language pathologist and a psychologist. PCHC has access to experienced physicians who are available on a consultative basis. PCHC can assist in locating a clinician who may best meet the needs of the individual with mental retardation.
Do you serve adults, as well as children?
PCHCs services are primarily directed toward adults with developmental disabilities living in funded community residential homes in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Is there a charge for PCHCs services?
PCHCs services are available to any person registered with the Office of Mental Retardation in Pennsylvanias southeast region. Services are also provided free of charge to any provider agency serving individuals under contract with the county Offices of Mental Retardation Services.
Does PCHC accept Medical Assistance?
No. PCHC does not accept insurance of any type, as it does not provide direct health care services.
How is PCHC staff trained?
PCHC nursing and professional staff are trained in working with individuals with mental retardation and many are certified by the Developmental Disabilities Nursing Association in this field. Technical assistance staff have health care and insurance backgrounds, as well as experience in the field of social work.
