Food Allergy Awareness Month                                   

As of 2021, approximately 33 million people in the United States have food allergies. The most common allergies include peanuts, tree nuts, milk, wheat, seafood, and eggs. If the person comes into contact with the allergen, they usually have an immediate reaction which may include:

Allergy symptoms can be bothersome but can they be fatal? YES. More than half of the adults with food allergies have experienced a severe reaction called anaphylaxis. This can cause life-threatening symptoms including throat swelling, chest pain, and a constricted airway. There is no cure for food allergies, but they can be managed by avoiding problem foods and learning to recognize and treat any reactions. If you think that you or someone you care for may have food allergies, please discuss your concerns with the doctor.
